McDonough brings The Pi Group, located in both Darien, CT and New York, NY, fresh insights in transforming business performance from prior executive roles leading the marketing organizations at Diageo, Procter & Gamble, Gillette, and Black & Decker.
McDonough most recently was president, chief marketing and innovation officer for Diageo, where he was tasked with overseeing the North America spirits industry’s largest portfolio of top selling brands. In this role, Peter transformed and built the marketing and product development organizations with new capabilities, a more focused strategic outlook, and a business plan that delivered accelerated growth and positioned Diageo as the industry leader in product innovation. As a member of the North America Executive Team, he played a key role in developing organizational strategy and growth targets for Diageo’s most important global region.

Prior to joining Diageo, McDonough served in a variety of leadership roles within the consumer goods industry in North America and Europe, including vice president of North American marketing for Gillette, vice president of European marketing for Duracell and Braun, and director of North American marketing at Black & Decker Power Tools.
McDonough is an alumnus of Cornell University and holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Providence Equity Partners’ Benefit Street RFT, Effie’s Worldwide, Inc., and The Splash Beverage Group. He also participates on the Advisory Boards of IgnitionOne Interactive Inc., Viridian Capital Advisors, and SX Liquors LLC. Previous board positions included the RFT Board of AR Global Investments LLC, The AdCouncil of America, and The Children’s Trust Fund of Massachusetts.
